About us
The Museum of Tinkering gGMBH (i.G.) is an emerging playful education projest in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany that engages kids, families, educators and artists in the process of exploring art, science and technology. Through pop-up prototyping sessions, local collaborations, temporary exhibitions and experimental workshops the Museum of Tinkering invites learners of all ages to prototype ideas, learn from each other, see artists’ work and be inspired to try new things.
The Museum of Tinkering builds on the work of constructivist educator Ryan Jenkins and his crew of talented collaborators. Ryan develops playful prototypes, environments and resources to support tinkering with art, science and technology. Under the umbrella of The Tinkering Studio and Wonderful Idea Co., Ryan has spent 20 years working with schools, libraries, museums and informal education spaces to support new tinkering experiments.
Ryan is the author of The Tinkering Workshop, a guide for using everyday materials to engage with playful hands-on projects at home.
